ALLIANCE, Ohio – The Capital University women's soccer team (8-6-1, 3-2-0 OAC) paid Mount Union (4-7-1, 1-4-0 OAC) a visit on Saturday night and shut down the Purple Raiders offense in a 3-0 win.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Comets were eager to get going after kickoff was delayed until 7:30 p.m. due to transportation issues on the way to Alliance. That being said, it only took Capital seven minutes to put their first point on the board. It all started with
Lizzie Elliott making a long run down the right side and sending a cross into the box.
Catherine Zugaro was on the receiving end and deposited the pass into the back of the net.
The Purple and White put another in at the start of the second half, scoring in the 53rd minute.
Lexi Snider got the play going with a pass to Zugaro who took one touch and poked it through to
Grace Estes at the top of the box. With the left foot, Estes sent the ball past the keeper for the score.
Capital's third and final goal came at the start of the 81st minute from
Nicole Ogden. Estes started it off with a shot from the left side of the box that was saved and bounced back into play. Ogden seized the opportunity and powered it into the back of the net to put the game to bed at 3-0.
