ALLIANCE, Ohio – The Capital University football team traveled to No. 2 ranked Mount Union on Saturday and struggled to get anything going offensively in the game, eventually falling by a final score of 76-0.
The loss moves Capital back to 1-5 overall while Mount moves to 6-0 overall.
In all, Capital managed to pick up just 66 yards of offense while picking up four first downs.
Donovan Duncan earned his first career start at quarterback, going 5-for-9 for 29 yards in the game.
Ben Owens also saw time under center, completing two passes for eight yards.
Bennett Zerby and
Mike Elmore each made two catches – Zerby for 16 yards and Elmore for 12 yards.
Drew Montoya,
Simon Smith, and
Trent Renz all recorded one catch each.
Kassim Johnson was the leading rusher for the Comets, taking five carries for 36 yards.
Troi McClary ran six times,
Mir Dewberry rushed three times,
Albree Grose ran 12 times, Duncan rushed twice, DaVaughn Bufford rushed twice and
Ben Owens ran four times. Bufford made his collegiate debut in the game.
In defense,
Bryson Roberts made a career-high 10 tackles, including being in on tackle for a loss.
Tyson Shutler and
Declan McAdams each made seven tackles, with McAdams picking up a sack early in the game.
James Curtis,
Quincy Hains, and
Nick Fisanick all made six stops each. Fisanick was in on 1.5 tackles for a loss as well.
In special teams action,
Drew Montoya took five kickoffs for 75 yards, while
Bennett Zerby had two returns for 31 yards.
Bailey Johnson also took two returns for 26 yards.
Tyler Terrell was busy, punting 11 times for a total of 413 yards (37.5 yards per punt). His longest punt sailed 48 yards and he yielded six fair catches.
Ty Boughman sent his only kickoff of the day for 62 yards.

The game will feature as Military Appreciation with all members of military with ID and/or in uniform will be granted free admission to the game.
