UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio – The Capital University women's basketball team hit the road for the second straight game on Saturday afternoon, traveling north to the campus of John Carroll University. In the end it was the Blue Streaks with the 53-46 win, despite an incredible comeback effort by the Comets.
Capital falls to 12-7 overall and 6-6 in the OAC.
John Carroll climbs to 11-8 overall and 6-6 in conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Things were fairly slow for Capital in the early going. The Comets were plagued by turnovers in the first half and shooting struggles only made matters worse. On the other end, JCU was able to take advantage of the extra possessions and built up a sizable lead. At the half, Cap faced a 31-12 deficit.
However, the Comets came back with a resilient effort in the second half and nearly turned the tables on John Carroll. Capital would outscore the Blue Streaks 34-22 in the last two quarters – even getting the deficit down to just four at one point – to make it a fight to the finish. Unfortunately, completing the comeback was just not in the cards for the Comets and they fell just seven points short, 53-46.
