Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Women’s Basketball Falls at Muskingum

NEW CONCORD, Ohio – The Capital University women's basketball team came out on the wrong end of a tight scoreline at Muskingum University on Wednesday evening. Despite eight points from Bri O'Connor in the final 27 seconds of the game to make things interesting, Cap fell 63-60 at the final horn.

Capital now sits at 12-6 overall and 6-5 in the OAC. Muskingum improves to 6-12 overall and 3-8 in the conference.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Muskingum garnered an early 6-0 lead in the first quarter and carried that head start into a 20-15 lead at the end of the first 10 minutes.

In the second stanza Muskingum carried their advantage through the first six minutes of the quarter, before a pair of free throws from Samaree Perkins and a bucket by Demi Brewer tied the game at 30-30. Perkins then followed up with a made layup to give Cap their first lead of the game. Another layup from Perkins gave Cap enough to carry a one-point edge to the locker room.

In the third, both teams stayed step-for-step with one another, with the Muskies eventually doing enough to swing the game one point in their favor heading to the fourth.

In that fourth quarter, let Muskingum get ahead by eight, but then the work of their leading scorer, Bri O'Connor helped them stay in it until the final buzzer. Down by eight, with just 27 seconds left, O'Connor squeezed up four layups to give Cap hope. Unfortunately, Muskingum did what they had to do and kept their nerve at the free throw line, and held on for a three-point win in the end at 63-60.
