DELAWARE, Ohio – The Capital University women's tennis team ventured across town to take on Ohio Wesleyan University in a midweek non-conference match on Wednesday afternoon. The scoreline did not bode well for the Comets as they fell 8-1, and dropped their season record to 3-4.
The lone Comet to claim a point for the team was
Josie Nichols who won her fifth singles match over Kaitlyn Quinn of OWU. Nichols came out on top 6-2, 7-5, taking the second set in a tiebreaker.
Elsewhere in singles action,
Kelli Wright-Lovell (6-4, 6-1),
Anna Fletcher (6-0, 6-0),
Nicole Flock (6-3, 6-2),
Kylee Fliter (6-2, 6-1), and
Hayley Singleton (6-1, 6-1) dropped their individual matches.
In double competition, Capital faltered, losing all three matches in that discipline.
Kelli Wright-Lovell teamed up with Flock at first singles, Fletcher and Nichols paired at second doubles, and
Amy Wright-Lovell joined
Karen Kanke for third doubles. Fletcher and Nichols were the only pairing to take a game off the Bishops, taking two, despite dropping the match-up 8-2.
