LIMA, Ohio – The Capital University women's tennis team dropped a 7-2 decision on the road playing against a talented team in Ohio Northern University.
The two team points for Capital came at number one and two singles, won by
Kelli Wright-Lovell and
Anna Fletcher.
At first singles, Wright-Lovell faced off with Victoria Santana and won in two sets, 6-2, 6-0. Fletcher defeated Olivia Kesner in straight sets as well, 6-3, 6-4. Both matches were tough wins for both players as they faced high-quality opponents.
Elsewhere in singles action,
Nicole Flock (0-6, 1-6),
Josie Nichols (0-6, 0-6),
Kylee Fliter (1-6, 0-6), and
Karen Kanke (0-6, 0-6) were knocked off by their Polar Bear opponent.
In doubles action, the usual pairings of
Kelli Wright-Lovell and
Nicole Flock took to first doubles, falling 8-3.
Anna Fletcher and
Josie Nichols teamed up again at second doubles, dropping their match 8-1.
Amy Wright-Lovell and
Abigail Hornacek rounded out play at third doubles, falling 8-1 as well.
The Comets will be back on the courts on Wednesday, April 6th as they travel across town to Ohio Wesleyan University. First serve is scheduled for 4 p.m. on Wednesday.
