Milestones Met on a Record Breaking Saturday at BW for Women’s Lacrosse

BEREA, Ohio – The Capital University women's lacrosse team had another monster day on Saturday afternoon, ousting the Baldwin Wallace Yellow Jackets 18-5.

The win gives the Comets' squad an even decade for the season, continuing the best start in program history at an unblemished 10-0.

BW drops to 2-6 and 0-1 in OAC play.

Capital's high-powered offense was at it once again with none other than Grace Osborn leading the way with TEN – yes 10 – goals on the day, setting a new record for goals scored in a single game by a Comet. The old number of eight had been reached nine times in the program's nine-year history, including twice this season by Osborn herself. Kara Hines (three times), Kathryn Walton, Kori Titus (two times), and Luci Kanowsky are the only other women to accomplish such a feat.

Alongside Osborn in the scoring column were Katie Page (2 G), Brooke Delara (2 G), Julia Foresi (2 G), Dylan Smith (1 G), and Luci Kanowsky (1 G).

Delara also accounted for all three of the team's assists. Her five points on the day give her a total of 301 career points, just one shy of matching Kathryn Walton's career points record of 302.

With Kanowsky's goal she has earned her 200th point of her career. Over her four years at Capital, Luci has now scored 149 goals and assisted 51.

On the defensive side of the ball, CU shut down the Baldwin Wallace offense, directly causing eight of BW's 20 turnovers. Osborn (4 CT, 5 GB), Skyla Caito (2 CT, 2 GB), Page (1 CT, 1 GB), Kori Barrett (1 CT), and Hanna Searles (3 GB) led the charge in creating havoc for the Yellow Jackets.

The Comets also held a clear advantage on the draw. Of the 27 draw controls available, Cap rounded up 20.

The mainstay in the Capital cage, Bee Kuehn, tallied three saves on the day. Her career saves number now sits at 199.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Comets got off to a hot start in the first quarter, scoring two goals before being interrupted by BW's first goal. Both goals were scored by Osborn. Cap would then add two more (one by Osborn and one by Foresi) before allowing another Yellow Jacket score. Osborn ended the quarter on a positive note for Capital, driving in another to make the score 5-2 at the end of the first.

Cap caught fire in the second quarter with five straight. The first two were netted by Page and Delara with the three succeeding scores by Osborn. At the half the Comets were leading 10-2.

Despite BW taking two back in the third quarter and cutting the lead to 10-4, Capital roared back with eight goals and one allowed in the final fifteen minutes to bring the final score to 18-5. Osborn accounted for three of the eight scores in the fourth quarter as Page, Delara, Kanowsky, Foresi, and Smith made up the difference.

THE OPPONENT
Deanna Loukas and Kaitlyn Hradek each led with two goals for the Yellow Jackets. Ashleigh Hildreth was in net for BW. She made nine saves.
