COLUMBUS, Ohio -- As the spring season inches closer, Capital University has begun to prepare for the upcoming seasons with the introductions of a handful of new coaches, helping our student-athletes' development.
Joining the coaching staffs for this spring are
DaJuan Seward (track & field), Bryan Bidwell and
Leo Alls (softball),
Marshal Amon and
Jack Jasinski (men's lacrosse),
Mackenzie Maggio (women's tennis) and
Dylan Bhaerman (men's tennis).
Track and Field
DaJuan Seward joins head coach
BT Pham's coaching staff for track and field as a volunteer assistant coach. Seward, a 2019 graduate of Ohio State, will primarily work with the hurdlers and jumpers in his role. Seward was a two-time Big Ten Individual Champion and was a 2018 Second Team All-American in the triple jump. He also competed in the 60 meter hurdles, the 110 meter hurdles and the long jump during his tenure as a Buckeye.
Softball
Head coach
Andrea Nagy has completed her coaching staff for the 2022 season, adding Bryan Bidwell as an assistant coach and
Leo Alls as a part-time assistant coach. Bidwell comes to Capital with a background consisting of primarily baseball coaching experience, but he has worked with softball players since October of 2021. He works as DBAT Columbus North as a private and group instructor for baseball and softball players. He is also a U17/18 Head Baseball Coach for 1848 Dawgs Travel Baseball Organization. Bidwell has also coached among the high school ranks prior to joining Capital.
Leo Alls returns to Capital for his third season, but his first as a part-time assistant coach. Previously, Alls volunteered with the program, helping out on a minimal basis. He holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Akron in Biomedical Engineering and a Doctorate of Pharmacy from Northeast Ohio Medical University. He works full-time as a pharmacist with CVS Caremark.
Men's Lacrosse
Head coach
A.J. Smith has completed his coaching staff, consisting of some top Ohio lacrosse talent. Joining as an assistant coach is
Jack Jasinski. Jack is a 2019 graduate of Ohio State and was a four-year letter winner and a multiple player of the week award winner for the Buckeyes. After graduating from OSU, Jack played two seasons in Major League Lacrosse where he recorded 23 points in 15 games played and competed in the MLL Championship game both seasons. Most recently, Jack signed with the Panther City Lacrosse Club of the National Lacrosse League. In his debut, he scored a goal and recorded three assists, helping the team to their first win in franchise history.
Rounding out Smith's coaching staff is graduate assistant coach,
Marshal Amon. Amon competed as a goalie for Cleveland State University before finishing his degree at Miami University. He has built his reputation primarily coaching on the club circuit and at high schools. He has coached with True Lacrosse, Cincinnati Royals, and Flying Tigers clubs and Loveland and Indian Hill high schools.
Women's Tennis
Mackenzie Maggio joins coach
Lynn Winters' coaching staff for the 2021-22 season. A native of Parma, Ohio, Maggio was a four-year competitor on the women's tennis team at Capital, graduating in the spring of 2020. Maggio was the recipient of the Coach's Award and was a team captain during her playing tenure. Off the tennis courts, Maggio works as an EMT-Paramedic with Critical Care Transport.
Men's Tennis
Dylan Bhaerman joins head coach
Cody Hurley on the courts for the upcoming spring season. Bhaerman is currently enrolled in the Capital Law School, and split his undergrad career between Philadelphia University and Ohio State. At Philadelphia, Bhaerman played NCAA D-II second singles and first doubles before transferring to the Ohio State Club Tennis Team where he completed his degree. As an elite high school and junior player, Bhaerman was a two-star recruit and was ranked 15th in Ohio and 84th on Prince's list for Top-100 players.
