COLUMBUS, Ohio – Despite an absolutely gorgeous afternoon at Bernlohr Stadium, the Capital University football team had a difficult time on the gridiron this afternoon, falling to the visiting Baldwin Wallace University Yellow Jackets by a final score of 48-7.
The Comets did have a couple of drives in the first half that found their way deep into the BW territory, but ultimately, Capital couldn't convert on fourth down each of those times and were held scoreless by the break. On the other side of the football, the Yellow Jackets got into the end zone four times and tacked on a field goal in the first half to lead 31-0 at the intermission.
In the second half, the road would not get much easier in the way of moving the ball as Capital again faltered in this category for much of the way.
It wouldn't be until the fourth quarter with 7:18 left on the clock in which Capital would find the end zone. The score came courtesy of a seven yard run from freshman running back
Troi McClary. The TD was his first as a collegian. McClary had a big 20-yard rush just a few plays prior to help move the drive along. The set-up play was a 16-yard rush up the gut by quarterback
Trevor Harrison-Rawn that then allowed McClary to score on the next play.
After the touchdown, Capital's final drive of the game once again stalled out on fourth down and allowed BW to drain much of what was left on the clock to ice the game 48-7.
