OBERLIN, Ohio – The Capital University volleyball team struggled on the road at Oberlin College on Wednesday evening. The hosts ran out winners by a final score of 3-0 (25-20, 25-16, 25-16).
Cap had an off-night offensively as the attack committed nearly as many errors (22) as they had kills (24) and hit just .018 on the night. While CU faltered, Oberlin clipped at a .225 hitting percentage on 43 kills and just 16 errors.
For the Purple and White,
Delanie Nahikian led the team with six kills, while
Alissa Holler chipped in with four.
Jenay Kocsis had the majority of the assists with 10, while
Jordyn Hoffman dished up seven.
Defensively,
Erin O'Connell led the team with 10 digs and had the team's lone service ace.
Paree Furness and Nahikian each added six digs.
For the hosts, Andrea Moo had a game-high 10 kills, while Taylor Gwynne was the leader of the offense with 29 assists. Moo DeHaro had a game-high 12 digs.
Capital returns to action this Friday as they open up their home schedule with the Pam Briggs Classic. CU will play Case Western Reserve on Friday at 5 p.m. and will play again on Saturday at 10 a.m. and 12 p.m.
