BEXLEY, Ohio –  The Capital University men's soccer team got back in the win column on Thursday evening with a resounding 3-1 win on senior night. The Crusaders outshot the Quakers 15 -6 in a controlling match.

The win pushed Capital to a 3-5 mark, while Wilmington was pegged to a 6-2 record.

Prior to kickoff, Capital Athletics and coach Alan Yost honored four seniors for their contributions to the men's soccer program over the past four years. Players honored were Cole Hamilton, Nick Scharfenberger, Kevin Kasprzak, and Rocky Jorgenson.

The first half was one-way traffic in favor of the hosts. Capital dominated possession and took eight shots, compared to none for the Quakers.

In the midst of a torrential downpour, the Crusaders found the breakthrough in the 21st minute as Bailey Lach forced a turnover in the middle third. There, Jack Kossoudji slipped the ball ahead to Jack Francisco who slotted home his fourth goal of his freshman season. Francisco's goal ended a 500 minute scoreless run for the Crusaders.

Capital maintained control and took the 1-0 advantage to the break. The half was what the Quakers were in need of as they came out firing on all cylinders and equalized in the 56th minute. Casey Miller got his head on a corner by Yusef Muqtadir to square things up.

The setback didn't seem to fluster the Crusaders too much, as just 11 minutes later, they restored their lead. Matt Scheper nodded home his first of the season off a corner kick from Mujahid Abdel-Ghani to put Cap back in front.

In the 75th, Bailey Lach capped off his outstanding defensive night with a left footed firecracker from the top of the arch to the right side netting to ensure the victory for Capital.

Kellen Sargent served well in the Capital goal, stopping two shots. Felix Maurer tallied three saves on the evening for Wilmington.

Capital will hit the road for their next match, traveling to Otterbein on Sunday, April 11th. Kickoff in Westerville is slated for 2 p.m.
