WESTERVILLE, Ohio –  On Sunday afternoon, the Capital University men's soccer team continued their winning ways with a second straight victory. This time, the Crusaders downed crosstown rivals Otterbein University by a final score of 1-0.

Freshman Jack Francisco scored his fifth goal of the season and second in as many games to lift Capital to a 4-5 record. Otterbein fell to 3-5-1 on the year with the loss.

Despite the Cardinals having the advantage on shots (12-9), Capital found the breakthrough in the 30th minute from the penalty mark. Capital earned the spot kick after an Otterbein foul just inside the top of the box. There Francisco stutter stepped his run-up before slotting home past Otterbein goalie Andrew Mcllvoy.

In the second half, Capital dodged some pressure from the Cardinals as they saw a shot ping the crossbar and a narrow miss due to pressure forced by Crusader shot stopper, Kellen Sargent. Sargent stopped the two shots he faced on target en route to his second shutout of the year.

Both Francisco and Nick Scharfenberger took three shots each. Both found the frame twice, bringing three stops out of Mcllvoy's four for the game. Mitch Hughes accounted for the other Cap shot on goal.

With the win, Capital put themselves in prime position to claim a spot in the OAC Tournament. Final seedings will be worked out as results trickle in from around the conference. Please stay tuned to the Men's Soccer Schedule Page for updates.
