COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Capital University women's tennis team rolled to a 9-0 victory over Marietta College on Wednesday at the Scarborough East Indoor Courts. Capital is now 3-3 overall heading into its final match of the regular season this Saturday.
Mariah Sadek and
Kelli Wright-Lovell took control in the top-flight doubles match, defeating Marietta's Destiny Grim and Reagan Haas by a score of 8-1. The tandem of
Maggie Haas and
Rachel Smith battled against Abigail Hartshorn and Anne Thompson and outlasted the Marietta pair, 9-7.
Marietta forfeited two points to Capital on court three on the doubles side and court six on the singles side. With wins on court two and five, Capital clinched the match but kept its train rolling all the way to the end.
Amy Wright-Lovell downed Abby Ketchum, 6-0, 6-1, and sister Kelli took care of Destiny Grim, 6-1, 6-0, to give Cap the win.
Rachel Smith was victorious on court three with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Reagan Haas while teammate
Josie Nichols handled Abigail Hartshorn, 6-2, 6-1. To complete the shutout, Sadek served up a win on court one over Anne Thompson, 6-1, 6-4.
Capital (3-3) will go for its third straight victory in Saturday's regular season finale when they host Baldwin Wallace University (3-3) at Wolfe Park in Bexley. First service is set for 11 a.m.
