BEREA, Ohio – After taking a tie game into the half, Capital Women's Lacrosse exploded in the second half on both sides of the ball, outscoring Baldwin Wallace University, 9-1, en route to Saturday afternoon's victory. The Crusaders defeated the Yellow Jackets, 16-8, at George Finnie Stadium in the regular season finale. The win make Capital a lock for the number three seed in the upcoming OAC Tournament.

Capital had been rolling through the first 13 minutes of the opening half having scored six of the game's first eight goals. Five different Crusaders posted goals during that run. Down 6-2, Baldwin Wallace rallied to score five straight goals to retake the lead with 2:03 to go. Capital's Dylan Smith then scored with 51 seconds remaining to tie the game before the break.

Cap's defense came into the second half on a mission and gave its offense all the support it could need to reclaim control of the game. After recording 18 shots in the first half, Baldwin Wallace was held to just six shot attempts and one goal in the second half. Capital goalie Bee Keuhn was asked to make just one save in the second half and the wall in front of her helped force BW into 20 turnovers.

While the CU defense was running on all cylinders, the Crusaders more than replicated their first-half efforts. Sid Chamberlain scored BW's lone second-half goal midway through the second, and then the defense held the Yellow Jackets scoreless for the remaining 16:24.

In the meantime, Smith kick started a run of seven unanswered goals. Capital spread the love with six different scorers contributing during that run. Also contributing to the game-altering shift were Brooke Delara and her two goals, Skyla Caito, Kathryn Walton, Briana Rampi, and Luci Kanowski.

Rampi finished the game with a team-high four goals and one assist, while Smith and Kanowski were right behind her with three goals and one helper, each. While Walton was held to just one late goal, she too had a four-point game sparked by three assists. Brooke Delara notched a game-high six points behind three goals and three assists.

Capital finishes the regular season with a record of 11-2, which locks up the third seed in the upcoming OAC Tournament. More details on the tournament and Capital's upcoming schedule will be provided after the OAC finalizes the season standings.
