Crusaders Defeat Muskies, 22-4, in Dominant Fashion

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Capital University women's lacrosse team hit the road for the third straight game and came away with their third victory at Muskingum, dominating the Muskies in a 22-4 victory.

OFFENSIVE BARRAGE
  • Junior Luci Kanowsky picked up where she left off in her last game, scoring an unassisted goal just 38 seconds into the contest to put Capital on top.
  • In the next two minutes, the Crusaders found the back of the net three more times on goals from graduate Kat Walton, Kanowsky and senior Dana Stover to go up 4-0 with 27:54 to play in the half.
  • The Muskies managed to score a goal at the 22:26 mark but from that point forward, offerings from Capital just continued to hit their mark.
  • Senior Brooke Delara, sophomore Dylan Smith, senior Brianna Rampi and Kanowsky added five more goals to push the lead to to 9-2 after Muskingum was able to break through once more.
  • From that point forward it was all Purple and White as the offensive barrage continued until the halftime horn with Capital leading 16-2.

KEEPING THE HEAT
  • Capital opened the second half with four consecutive goals, capping off a run of 11 unanswered scores, to take a 20-2 lead with 11 minutes to play.
  • Muskingum scored their first goal of the half with 9:48 to play but that was quickly answered with a shot from junior Hanna Searles and a man down goal from senior Alex Lowry.
  • When the dust settled, the Crusaders scored 22 goals to Muskingum's 4 to remain unbeaten on the young season.

KEY STATS
  • Capital held Muskingum to just 10 shots for the contest.
  • 10 different Crusaders scored a goal on the afternoon and totaled 37 points.
  • Rampi and Walton each led the team with seven points. Rampi scored three times and dished out four helpers while Walton scored four goals and tallied three assists.
  • Close behind, both Delara and Kanowsky scored three goals and added three assists to be second on the team with six points.
  • Smith notched career highs in both goals with three and assists with two.
  • Lowry notched the first two goals of her career along with sophomore Haleigh McPhillips who scored her first goal.
