UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio – The Capital University men's soccer team took to the pitch at Don Shula Stadium on Sunday afternoon. The Purple and White endured its first loss of the season while on the road at John Carroll University by a final score of 5-0.

The Blue Streaks (2-0) jumped out to a commanding lead after scoring four goals in the first half. Three of JCU's goals in the opening 45 came off of penalty kicks, and two of those came off the foot of William Turrittin (11', 29'). Mario Abou-Mitri scored the third PK in the 42nd minute.

John Carroll's lone goal coming off of live action in the first half came in the 21st minute when Benjamin Hryszko scored following a feed from Jared Ianiro. They added another in the 89th minute when Gino Romeo tallied JCU's fifth score of the day.

Capital was kept off of the board throughout the duration of the game and was outshot 13-5. Cap was tagged for 23 fouls to JCU's 14.

Jack Francisco and Mitchell Hughes both tallied three shots each to account for a majority of the team's eight shots. Kellen Sargent made five saves in the loss, while his counterpart made four saves.

Capital (2-1) will prepare for a second road contest later this week at Marietta College. The Crusaders will travel to Marietta and line up against the Pioneers for a 7 p.m. start from Don Drumm Stadium.
