TAKING CONTROL
  • Capital put the pressure on the opposing goalkeeper early and often, firing off four shots in the first eight minutes of the game.
  • With the Yellow Jackets unable to mount a successful offensive push, the Crusaders continued to drive deep into the BW zone and get good looks a couple of which just narrowly sailed off the mark.
  • The opening score came in the 41st minute as junior midfielder Chase Geddis lined up and powered one past the keeper to give Capital its first goal and lead of the season that would hold through the first 45 minutes.
  • Coming out of the break, the Purple and White wasted no time as shots by senior Nick Scharfenberger and junior Mitch Hughes had two good opportunities that they were unable to convert.
  • Shortly after, in the 51st minute, Capital doubled their lead with a goal as two freshman connected to get the job done, Jack Kossoudji on the goal and Jack Francisco on the assist.
  • The Yellow Jackets were able to put together a better offense in the second 45, putting in six shots, one of which found the back of the net and moved the score to 2-1 in the 76th minute.
  • The last nail in the coffin came at the hands of Francisco who scored by himself in the 81st minute of play to increase the Capital advantage to two goals once again.
  • Baldwin Wallace managed a few more shots in the closing minutes but was unable to cut into the lead, resulting in a Crusaders victory at the final horn.
