COLUMBUS, Ohio – Freshman guard Carter Combs nabbed two accolades for Capital men's basketball, taking home the OAC Freshman of the Year award as well as Honorable Mention All-OAC.

Combs burst onto the scene for the men's hoops squad, scoring 21 points in just his second collegiate game on the road versus Muskingum. From that point on, the Cincinnati native never scored below double figures for the rest of the season to lead the team in points per game with 13.9. He finished the season shooting 37 percent from three point range and made nearly 75 percent of his free throws. In multiple games, Combs was the spark for the offense and played well enough to earn a starting spot in his final five games.

Aside from his shooting prowess, Combs was a contributor in other areas, pulling down 3.3 rebounds per contest and accumulating seven steals across the eight game season. For the year, the freshman posted game highs of 21 points versus Muskingum, six rebounds versus Heidelberg and four assists versus Wilmington.

Combs is the first Crusader to win OAC Freshman of the Year since the awards inception in 2010.
