GREENWOOD, Ind. -- On Thursday afternoon, Capital University football senior Kameron Lee was named to the Collegiate Sports Information Directors of America Academic All-District First Team as a punter. 

The award recognizes student-athletes who excel on both the field and in the classroom. First team All-District selections advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot. First- and second-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced in mid-December. 

Lee joins a lengthy list of distinguished Capital football alumni to have won the award and to head to the Academic All-America ballot. In the history of the award, nine Cap football players have been named Academic All-Americans. 

Lee, a senior native of Piqua, Ohio, is majoring in Criminology and Psychology at Capital. He also holds a minor in Sociology. Academically, he carries a 3.93 cumulative GPA. 

On the field this season, Kameron served as Capital's punter and a top-choice wide receiver. Punting the football, he was called upon 60 times where he booted the ball for a total of 2,212 yards, good for an average of 36.87 yards-per-punt. Lee sailed five punts over 50 yards with his longest registering 58 yards. Additionally, he induced just two touchbacks, 13 fair catches, and pinned the opponent inside their own 20-yard line on 12 occasions. 

Balancing out his efforts on the field, Lee also caught a team-high 35 passes for 497 yards and four touchdowns. He was second on the team in receiving yards and touchdowns. 

Lee is Capital's second First Team Academic All-District honoree this fall as he joins men's soccer player Mitch Hughes on the Academic All-America ballot. CoSIDA's football Academic All-Americans will be voted for and announced in mid-December.
