Men’s Tennis Blows Away Golden Tornadoes

BEAVER FALLS, Pa. -- On Saturday evening, the Capital University men's tennis team blew away the Geneva College Golden Tornadoes by a final score of 9-0. 

In doubles action, Capital won all three matches, but not without trouble. At first doubles, Leonardo Abreu and Alex Stout defeated Josiah Shaver and Alex Greissinger by a final of 8-4. In second doubles, Spencer Surles and Colin Welch took the match over Jacques Guillembet and David Clark by a score of 8-5. Finally, at third doubles, Aaron Askew and Jesse Stevens won by an 8-6 margin over Jadon Hooke and Kameron Donaldson. 

In singles, Capital swept all six matches in two sets, but were troubled along the way as well. 

Abreu won first singles with scores of 6-3, 6-2 over Guillembet. Stout took care of Shaver at second singles 6-0, 6-1. Surles defeated Greissinger by a margin of 6-3, 6-0 at third singles. Welch won fourth singles 6-2, 6-1 over Hooke. Askew won fifth singles with identical sets of 6-2 over David Clark. And, Stevens polished it off at sixth singles with a win by scores of 6-3, 6-3. 

Capital will be back in action tomorrow morning as they take on Miami Middletown in a rescheduled match from 9/18. The match will take place at Whetstone Park in Columbus at 10 a.m.
