COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Capital University men's basketball team took to the hardwood for the last time this season, traveling to No. 3 John Carroll for a quarterfinal matchup in the OAC Tournament, falling 84-54 in University Heights.
TOURNAMENT CHALLENGE
- Capital started the game locked in, forcing turnovers and making tough shots to take the lead 9-8 after a Cameron Caldwell and-one four minutes into the game.
- The Crusaders stood toe to toe with the Blue Streaks through the first 10 minutes before they started to falter.
- JCU played a full court defense that gave Capital trouble the whole evening and allowed the Blue Streaks to keep growing their lead, settling at 41-19 through the first half.
- Out of the break, Capital matched JCU shot for shot but were unable to cut into the lead as neither team faltered through the opening five minutes.
- However, that trend would not hold as the Blue Streaks continued to push the lead as the half progressed, eventually posting a final of 84-54.
THE PLAYERS
- Tyler Schreck contributed in all aspects of the game, scoring 11 and corralling 11 rebounds to secure the double-double. He also dished out five assists, tallied three steals and swatted two shots.
- Under the bucket, Reed Bradfield led Capital with 12 points, also pulling down five rebounds.
- In his last go around in the Purple and White, Ganiyu Yahaya put down 10 points and grabbed eight rebounds.
