COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio Athletic Conference has released schedules for men's and women's basketball, continuing its support for sports to return to action in 2021. Basketball, with its new format, plans to begin play on January 22.
In order to adhere to State of Ohio and NCAA regulations regarding COVID-19, the OAC and its member institution presidents have adopted an amended schedule for all winter sports. Basketball will play a 12-game, conference-only, regular season schedule prior to beginning postseason play on March 1. Capital will play six of the nine remaining OAC schools on back-to-back days at alternate sites. Friday night games will take place at 7 p.m. while Saturday games will tip off at 6 p.m.
The men's and women's basketball teams will begin the season against Muskingum on Friday, Jan. 22. The men will play the season's first home contest while the women play their season opener in New Concord, Ohio. Both teams will play each other the following evening at the opposite site.
The OAC Basketball Tournament will grant all 10 teams to participate with 7/10 and 8/9 matchups kicking off action on March 1. The highest remaining seeds will then host throughout with the quarterfinals hosted on March 2, the semifinals on March 4, and the OAC Finals on March 6.
Information regarding fan access, video streaming options and safety protocols will be made available at a later date.
