On Season 2, Episode 5 of Forward, Capital Crusaders!
On Episode 2.5 of the Forward, Capital Crusaders! podcast we go a little off the beaten path with our format and guest list. We mix in good news with real talk, plus another fantastic conversation with an alum from the Capital gridiron.
- We get our regular AD Update with Interim Director of Athletics Dixie Jeffers. Coach Jeffers gives us great news in regard to OAC basketball, plus an update on COVID and the Capital Football head coaching search.
- Part 1 of our conversation with Assistant Baseball Coach Jason Sturgill gets up caught up with the Crusaders after the completion of their fall non-traditional season. See what some of the highlights from within the program are, even if they are hard to measure.
- Part 2 gets real with "Coach Sturg". The former pitcher followed the family tradition and enlisted into the U.S. Army and shares with us a piece of his experience from Afghanistan. It gets real, but makes Coach who he is today. His message may make you think a little deeper about our men and women in the services, as well as show how mental toughness is an ongoing battle, which he can help with.
- In the 1990s, no other Crusader receiver saw the number of passes and catches than Shane Fouch '98. He graduated the Crusaders' leader in single-season yards and catches in a time where the pass game was not the main focus of the offense. We catch up with Shane about the special moments during his time at Cap, the rivalry against the birds to the north, and if you need a new car - he's your guy!Â
