Cap Volleyball Ends the Season with Loss to Denison

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Capital University volleyball team has its season come to an end on Saturday afternoon when the Crusaders lost to the Denison University Big Red, 3-0 (25-12, 25-17, 25-18).

Capital seniors Koryne VanScoy and Alexa Jeffers were honored prior to the start of the game for their contributions to the program over their four-year careers. VanScoy ended her career by leading the team with 11 digs, while Jeffers possessed a team-high 12 assists and chipped in six digs.

Denison (11-14 overall) hit .239 or better in all three sets and came out of the gate hitting .391 in the first set in its 25-12 win. While Capital's attack percentages increased over the course of the match they never topped .119.

Freshman Olivia Hale (Enon, Ohio/Greenon) led Cap's offense with six kills and also contributed nine digs. Kirsten Jutte and Jessica Gavlak had four block assists at the net for Capital (0-26 overall).

Denison's Emma Woerner and Payton McElfresh had a match-high 13 kills, each. Julia Miller posted a double-double with 33 assists and 11 digs.
