COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Capital University volleyball team earned its first straight-set win of the season, defeating Wilmington College on Tuesday night. Graysan Braun led the Crusaders on offense for the second straight match, which granted them their first Ohio Athletic Conference win of the year.

In two of the three sets, Wilmington (0-20, 0-4 OAC) gained quick leads but just as fast lost them to the Crusaders. The Quakers committed 19 errors and hit .028 as a team on offense. Eleven reception errors also aided in Capital building large leads in each set.

Sophomore Graysan Braun (Springfield, Ohio) led the Crusaders with nine kills and hit .350 to lead the Crusaders offense. Pacing the team's best attack percentage of the season was sophomore Becca Kapavik (Johnstown, Ohio), who connected on 8-of-9 attempts for a game- and career-high .889 kill percentage.

From the service line, sophomore Caitlin McDivitt (Cortland, Ohio) recorded a career-high six aces and added 11 assist, leading the Crusaders in both categories.

Three freshman made significant impacts on the game, including Nichole Webber (Youngstown, Ohio), Jess Troutwine (Springfield, Ohio), and Kelsie Winterfield (Westminster, Colo). Webber led the trio with five kills, two service aces and two block assists. Winterfield finished with a three kills and one block assist, while Troutwine finished with a pair of kills and one solo block.

Rheanna McClain finished with a team-high six kills for Wilmington.

The finals scores of the three-setter were 25-13, 25-7, and 25-18.

Capital will host Ohio Northern University on Saturday, Oct. 17 at 1 p.m. in their next action. They will seek their third win in a row against the Polar Bears.
