COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Capital University men's basketball team suffered a 59-51 defeat on Saturday afternoon at the hands of Ohio Athletic Conference opponent Heidelberg University.

Both teams struggled to find the net in the first half as Capital (4-11 overall, 2-6 OAC) was only 9-for-25 on field goal attempts, compared to Heidelberg (7-8 overall, 3-5 OAC), who was 7-for-30.

The game's turning point came when Andrew Bolka (Xenia, Ohio) was fouled with four seconds left in the half. After missing his second attempt, Shane Lee pulled down the rebound and found his teammate Ben Jones, who sunk a shot from half court narrowing Capital's lead to 24-23 at the half.

The Student Princes took control of the game by opening the second half with a 17-4 run that was capped off by two three-balls from Jones. The run gave Heidelberg its first lead of the game.

Capital put together a 9-2 run at the six minute mark that was sparked when sophomore guard Curt Geise (Delphose, Ohio) made a layup after rebounding his own blocked shot. The run continued as Drew Fecko (Sagamore Hills, Ohio) made one of the team's two three-thrpoint shots. AJ Dixon (Hilliard, Ohio) added four points to pull the game within three with 3:29 left to play.

Heidelberg's ability to make its free throw shots put the game away for good as eight of its final 10 points came from the charity stripe.

Bolka led the Crusaders in scoring for the second straight game on his way to recording a double-double with a game-high 17 points and 10 rebounds. Sophomore guard Geise was the team's second highest scorer with 10.

The Crusaders return to action at Muskingum on Wednesday, Jan. 21 at 7:30 p.m.
