Box Score COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Capital University men's basketball dropped an 87-59 decision to John Carroll University on Saturday afternoon inside the Capital Center.
John Carroll (3-1, 2-0 OAC) used a strong shooting effort from all areas of the court to propel itself to its win over Capital (3-5, 1-1 OAC). The Blue Streaks shot 75 percent from three point range at one point during the first half, helping them to a 53-31 lead at halftime. They finished the first half shooting 57.9 percent (11-for-19) from three-point range and 57.1 percent (20-for-35) from the field.
Charles English (Cincinnati, Ohio) helped Capital keep it close when near the 15-minute mark of the first half he scored seven straight points and made for a 16-14 game. That run was countered with a 13-0 run fueled by a trio of three-pointers by JCU and was interrupted by another jumper made by English.
The Blue Streaks balanced attack was too much for Capital to handle. They not only shot at a high mark from deep range but also crashed the boards and scored in the paint with regularity, as well. They outrebounded Capital 41-29 and outscored them in the paint, 34-14.
Curt Geise (Delphos, Ohio) finished as the Crusaders' high scorer with 18 points on 5-of-10 shooting from the field. English ended the day with 16 points on 7-of-10 shooting from the field.
Capital will take to the road for its next three games, beginning with a conference matchup at Ohio Northern University next Saturday, Dec. 13, at 3 p.m.
