UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio - The Capital University football team was defeated, 71-7, at John Carroll on Saturday afternoon in an Ohio Athletic Conference contest at Don Shula Stadium.

Sophomore running back Brent Walton (Pickerington, Ohio) scored the Crusaders lone touchdown on the afternoon, following a six play, 35 yard drive into the end zone. Walton finished the game with 11 carries for 28 yards on the ground.

Freshman quarterback Nick Iske (Hilliard, Ohio) led Capital in rushing with 63 yards on 10 carries, while also completing 6-of-17 passes for 44 yards. 

Iske's longest pass on the day was a 17 yard strike to junior wide receiver Jake Skelton (Madison, Ohio), who led the team with four catches on 33 total yards receiving.

Freshman slotback Cory Heeter (Circleville, Ohio) also posted two carries in the game, totaling 34 yards rushing. A total of six Capital players posted 18 rush yards or more on the afternoon.

Sophomore defensive back Jimmy Curtis (Hilliard, Ohio) and classmate in linebacker R.J. Heins (Sidney, Ohio), each tied for the team-lead in tackles with eight total.

Juniorl linebacker in Bryant Bokovitz (Gallipolis, Ohio) followed with seven total tackles, while freshmen in defensive back Eric Stroski (Concord, Ohio) and linebacker Trevor Parker (Hilliard, Ohio) each tallied five total tackles apiece.

Freshman defensive back Joe Rodriguez (Miami Springs, Fla.) continues to be a playmaker in the Crusaders secondary, as he intercepted his second pass of the season in the contest.

Sophomore punter Keegan Irwin (Cincinnati, Ohio) helped the Crusaders maintain good special teams play on the afternoon, pinning the Blue Streaks inside their own 20 yard line once in the game.

In total, Capital ran 74 plays, amounting to 57 carries for 178 total yards on the ground, as well as 44 total passing yards. The Crusaders were also able to keep their penalties at bay, accounting for just five on the day in comparison to the Blue Streaks seven for 102 yards.

With the loss, Capital (2-5 overall, 1-5 OAC) is now set to host Baldwin Wallace on Nov. 1 at Bernlohr Stadium. Kickoff is slated for 2 p.m.
