The Capital University men's basketball team was unable to find its groove on either end of the floor Tuesday in a 90-73 setback at Ohio Wesleyan in a non-conference contest between cross-town rivals at Delaware, Ohio.

The Battling Bishops (3-1 overall) knocked down 10 three-pointers and shot 52.9 percent in the first half to take a commanding 47-28 halftime lead and didn't look back.

The Crusaders (1-2) trailed by just seven midway through the first half, but Ohio Wesleyan knocked down consecutive 3-pointers and extended its lead to 18 by the 4:45 mark of the period.

The Bishops led by as many as 28 in the second half before Capital cut the lead to 13 with 8:33 to play following back-to-back 3-pointers by sophomore guard AJ Dixon (Hilliard, Ohio) and freshman guard Kersey Long (Columbus, Ohio). Ohio Wesleyan quickly pushed its advantage back to 20 by the 7:37 mark.

Junior wing Michael Green (Dublin, Ohio) paced the Crusaders with team highs of 12 points and eight rebounds. Dixon and Long added 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Junior forward Daniel Ocke (Sidney, Ohio) added eight points.

Ohio Wesleyan, which reached the NCAA Tournament in 2012-13, finished with 23 assists against just 11 turnovers. Capital shot 42.9 percent (24-for-56) from the floor, compared to 50.7 percent (34-of-67) for the Bishops, who finished the game with 15 made 3-pointers.

The Crusaders' bench, led by Long, outscored Ohio Wesleyan's reserves 33-18.

Capital opens the home portion of its 2013-14 schedule this Sunday against Mount St. Joseph. Tip-off at the Capital Center is slated for 6 p.m.
