Rachel Smith continues into her second season as an assistant tennis coach for Capital University in the 2025-26 season.
Smith rejoined her alma mater as an assistant coach in the spring of 2025, serving alongside interim head coach Matt Ogden. As an assistant coach in 2025, Smith helped to guide three student-athletes to All-OAC recognition and two to Academic All-Conference awards.
Smith was a four-year participant on the women's tennis team at Capital, having graduated in May of 2024 with a degree in education. On the tennis court as a student-athlete, Smith compiled an overall record of 29-39. In singles action, Smith was 14-20. In doubles play, she tallied a record of 15-19. Smith was named an Academic All-Conference recipient as a senior and was twice named an ITA Scholar Athlete.
Away from Capital tennis, Smith holds a teaching license in primary education and intervention education. She also works as a private tutor, a daycare assistant at the Kleiner YMCA and as a private babysitter.
