Coach Concheck enters her second season as head coach for the women's lacrosse team in 2026.

In her first year at the helm of the women's lacrosse team, Concheck led the Comets to 10-6 record, including a 5-2 record in OAC play, and an appearance in the OAC Tournament Semifinals.  The team would rank nationally in many key statistics, including top three in free position percentage, scoring offense, draw controls per game, shot percentage, and points per game.  They would finish sixth in the NCAA in assists per game.  Four Comets would earn All-OAC honors, including Grace Osborn who took home the OAC Midfielder of the Year Award.  Osborn would also be named preseason Midfielder of the Year and postseason first team All-American by USA Lacrosse Magazine.  Joining Osborn was Andi Henry who would be listed as honorable mention preseason All-American.  The field is not the only place where the Comets would excel under Concheck, however, with four players each being recognized in the IWLCA Academic Honor Roll, CSC Acadmeic All-District, and Academic All-OAC Awards.

In the off-season, Coach Concheck coaches club lacrosse for Impact, where she is currently the head coach for the 2028 Women's Elite Team.

BIOGRAPHY
Concheck comes to Capital after having previously served as the head coach of three Division I programs, most recently Winthrop University. At Winthrop, Concheck immediately led the Eagles to the Big South Conference semifinals in 2022. Throughout her three years in Rock Hill, she maintained a team GPA of 3.5+ and brought in the most highly-decorated class of 13 recruits in program history. 

Prior to Winthrop, Concheck spent two years at her alma mater Fresno State University first as an assistant serving as Offensive and Recruiting Coordinator before being promoted to the head coach role. She led the Bulldogs to their first-ever Mountain Pacific Sports Federation championship appearance in 2022, where they upset San Diego State 14-11. That year, Concheck coached the MPSF Rookie of the Year as well as five all-conference athletes. Overall, she kept a team GPA of 3.5+ both years, while also having 24 MPSF All-Academic Team selections. 

Concheck originally got her start as a Division I head coach at Saint Francis University where she was for the 2016-19 seasons. At SFU, she became the winningest head coach in program history, coaching eight all-conference athletes in the Northeast Conference as well as recruiting and coaching NEC Defender of the Year Elyssa Enrique and NEC Midfielder of the Year Autumn McHenry.

Concheck is also no stranger to Division III or central Ohio as she spent five years as a head coach lacrosse coach at Major Force Lacrosse Club in Columbus, while also serving as an assistant at Oberlin College for a season.

Concheck graduated from Fresno State University in 2014 where she played four years of lacrosse, leaving as the program's all-time leading scorer with 73 career goals and 85 career points. As a senior, she was named to the All-MPSF Second Team and earned the team's Offensive Player of the Year award.

QUOTABLE 
In November 2024, Capital University Director of Athletics Dr. Darrell Bailey, Sr. announced Kara Concheck as the second head coach of the Capital women's lacrosse program. The 2025 season will be her first with the Comets.
