Jami Pope will begin her first season on the Comets' coaching staff in 2024, assisting the program primarily in the recruiting game. Pope will also have a role in player development, but her main responsibilities will be serving as the team's Recruiting Coordinator.Â
Pope joins Capital softball after a two-year stay with crosstown foes, Otterbein University. As an assistant coach with the Cardinals, Jami was responsible for recruiting and helping the program cultivate a culture under a new coaching staff. She also aided in planning and executing camps.Â
Aside from her collegiate coaching experience, Pope has found great success coaching at the club level. Currently, Jami serves as the Head Coach of the Ohio Outlaws where she manages one of the top 17u teams in the state of Ohio. She carries an overall record of 221-41-13 as head coach of the Outlaws. Prior to taking over the Outlaws in 2021, Pope coaches for three seasons as the Co-Head Coach of the Ohio Stingrays. There, she aided the development of 12 student-athletes who all received collegiate offers.Â
Originally from Mount Vernon, Ohio, Jami currently resides in Gambier and is a mom of five children.Â
