Biography
Dustin Rudegeair is now entering his sixth year as assistant director of athletics and recreation. In his role on the athletics leadership team, Rudegeair is responsible for the day-to-day operation and planning for athletic facilities, operations and the intramural programs offered at Capital University.
 
While at Capital, Rudegeair has led in the planning and maintenance of The Capital Center, Bernlohr Stadium and other campus areas used for athletic events. Notably, Rudegeair led the turf resurfacing project of Bernlohr Stadium in the summer of 2023. Additionally, he has helped foster and maintain the relationship with the Capital ROTC, which supports the university’s athletic and intramural programs. Aside from Capital events, Rudegeair has assisted in operations during 2018 and 2019 The Basketball Tournament (TBT). Additionally, in 2024, Rudegeair served on the Host Planning Committee and as the Venue Facilities Coordinator for the Division III Women's Basketball National Semifinals and Finals held at The Capital Center. 
 
Rudegeair spent seven years (2010-17) at his alma mater, Ohio Wesleyan, as its facilities and summer camps director. His experience has brought many high-profile events from the high school level all the way through the professional ranks to Delaware, Ohio and to many of OWU’s athletic facilities.
 
During his tenure, Ohio Wesleyan hosted to NCAA Division III national championships and tournaments in men’s lacrosse, men’s soccer, men’s basketball, and track & field. They have also served as the site of the OHSAA football playoffs between 2010 and 2012, OHSAA baseball playoffs in 2012 and 2017, and just recently hosted the first state-recognized boys’ and girls’ lacrosse championships. Between 2012 and 2015, the Ohio Machine of Major League Lacrosse called Selby Stadium its home.
 
Other events hosted by OWU under Rudegeair’s supervision include:

  • Harlem Globetrotters game (2014)
  • Ironman event (2016)
  • Team OWU 5k (2011)
  • Numerous North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) postseason tournaments and championships

In addition to popular and highly-attended events, Rudegeair was an integral part of Ohio Wesleyan’s commitment to building and maintaining high-quality facilities. In his time at OWU, multiple facilities were constructed including the Meek Aquatics and Recreation Center and the Simpson Querrey Fitness Center. A major renovation project to the Edwards Gym and Athletic Office was completed, as well as extensive upgrades to famed Selby Stadium and Roy Rike Field.
 
His responsibilities at OWU also extended to multiple administrative roles that involved scheduling, budget management, and maintenance of all University athletic facilities.
 
Prior to Ohio Wesleyan, Rudegeair spent time at The Ohio State University, where he served as a graduate administrative associate in the Department of Recreational Sports. He completed his master's degree in sport and exercise management from OSU in 2010.
 
Rudegeair is a 2008 Ohio Wesleyan graduate and a four-year letterman on the Bishop men's basketball team. He capped his career by receiving Fourth Team All-America honors from D3hoops.com and was a two-time All-NCAC selection. Rudegeair completed his bachelor’s degree in sport management. Rudegeair was inducted to Ohio Wesleyan's Athletic Hall of Fame in the 2020 class, and was formally inducted in-person in October of 2021.  
 
A native of Yellow Springs, Ohio, Rudegeair and his wife, Kelli, reside in New Albany with their daughter, Reese and son, Brooks.
