On May 14, 2021, Capital University Interim Director of Athletics and Recreation, Dixie Jeffers, announced the hiring of BT Pham as the department's next Head Coach of Cross Country and Track & Field.Â
"We are excited to welcome BT to our Capital family and community," said Jeffers. "He brings with him a deep passion and work ethic that will help create a competitive environment here at Capital. He easily rose to the top of our very competitive selection pool."Â
Pham will take the reins of the Cap's cross country and track & field teams from Hannah Weiss who will depart the program at season's end after leading it since the 2015 season.Â
"I am excited to get started at Capital University," said Pham. "The resources available at the Capital Center excite me to help push the program forward. I am looking forward to continuing to build the culture of the program and help student-athletes have a great athletic, academic, and social collegiate experience."
Prior to joining Capital, Pham most recently served as the Head Coach of Cross Country and Track & Field at William Peace University in North Carolina where he helped build a brand new program.Â
A 2016 graduate of Concordia University Wisconsin, Pham has quickly elevated up the coaching ranks. From 2016 until 2018, Pham served as an assistant for Piedmont College while earning his Masters of Business Administration. From there, Pham moved to Milligan College in Tennessee where he served as an assistant track & field coach and recruiting coordinator for two seasons. Pham then got the nod to become William Peace's first Head Cross Country and Track & Field Coach in 2019 where he has served since. Â
A relentless recruiter, Pham has touted his ability to bring in numbers, averaging between 15 and 17 new student-athletes each season on the job.Â
"I am excited to begin recruiting in the Columbus area," said Pham. "I hope to help grow the teams in numbers to improve our competitiveness within the conference."
Despite only having six combined years of prior coaching experience, Pham has proven success wherever he has coached. On staff at Piedmont, Pham helped lead the men's program to 2018 USA South Champion honors and the women to runner-up accolades. He was named to the Coaching Staff of the Year that season. Under his mentorship, Piedmont produced six USTFCCCA All-Region athletes, seven conference champions, 24 All-Conference honorees and two USTFCCCA All-Academic teams.Â
At Milligan, Pham's leadership helped produce two NAIA National Champions, seven National Qualifiers, six conference champions, 23 All-Conference performers, and two team conference runner up performances.Â
Furthering his pedigree of guiding top performing individuals and teams, Pham not only started the William Peace program, but he immediately developed a wealth of talented runners and competitors. In his three years with the program, Pham produced one conference champion, 11 All-Conference performers, eight USTFCCCA All-Academic selections and three USTFCCCA Team Academic Award winners. In addition, he helped guide Peace to a runner up finish in cross country at the conference meet and a third place mark in track and field.Â
