Simonne Gage has been selected to join national champion coach Dixie Jeffers on the Capital women’s basketball staff. The Capital alum and former standout will begin her first year as the graduate assistant coach in August 2017.

Over the course of her career, Gage was a four-year letterwinner that averaged 8.3 points, 3.9 assists, 3.7 rebounds, and 2.3 steals per game. She came onto the scene and was named the 2012-13 Ohio Athletic Conference Freshman of the Year after putting up 7.4 points and 2.6 assists per contest. That marked the first time in program history a Capital player had won the award. In that season, Gage and the Crusaders went 19-9, upset conference favorite Ohio Northern to win the OAC Tournament Championship, and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the 15th time in program history.

Gage is also a two-time All-OAC selection after earned second team honors in 2014 and honorable mention status in 2015. As a senior, she led the OAC with 114 total assists and was second in the league with 74 steals.

Gage, a 2015 Capital graduate with a degree in psychology, will actively pursue her master’s of business administration while coaching.
