Few people can say they’ve walked lock-step with a legendary coach for nearly a quarter of a century, but Jason Wright can. In 2021-22, Wright will begin his 21st season as an assistant coach on the Capital women’s basketball team.

Wright has been an assistant coach at Capital since the 2000-2001 season. During that span, Cap has claimed five OAC championships, including back-to-back conference regular season titles. The Purple and White have also earned three NCAA Tournament bids and won at least 20 games in seven seasons with Wright on the coaching staff. In 19 seasons on staff, he has coached three All-Americans, five OAC Players of the Year, two OAC Freshman of the Year honorees, and 49 All-OAC selections - including 17 first-teamers - among a myriad of student-athletes to garner academic accolades.

A 1999 Capital graduate, he helped Head Coach Dixie Jeffers as a student assistant coach during his time as an undergraduate.

In his current role, Wright works with Capital guards while aiding with a variety of administrative tasks.

Wright is also a teacher in the Bloom Carroll school district.
