Capital University

Taryn Chapman

Taryn Chapman will begin her second year as Capital Track & Field’s graduate assistant coach. Her primary responsibilities reside in overseeing the hurdlers and throwers in the program.

In her first year with Capital she was part of a staff that watched the Crusaders break six different records between its hurdlers and throwers. Among those was All-American Josh Miller who broke the weight throw and shot put records prior to qualifying for the 2020 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships. Headlining the women’s side was Emily Hilt ’20 who broke the women’s pentathlon record and was an all-conference performer at the 2020 Ohio Athletic Conference championships.

Broken records follow Chapman wherever she goes. While serving as an assistant coach at Mount Vernon Nazarene University in 2018-19 the program witnessed 13 records fall among its sprints, jumps and hurdles areas. MVNU had two of its athletes qualify for the NAIA Indoor Track & Field Championships in 2018 and one repeat that spring.

A 2018 graduate of Malone University, Chapman is a four-time all-conference performer and four times an academic all-conference honoree. She was a member of the Dean’s List all four years at Malone while getting her degree in exercise physiology. Chapman was an intern for D1 Sports Performance in the area of weight lifting and weight lifting design in 2015 and has held a level one USATF coaching certification since 2016.

Chapman is pursuing her Masters of Business Administration at Capital University and is set to graduate in 2022.
