Ryan McClay

Ryan McClay enters his third year as an assistant coach on the men’s soccer coaching staff.

In McClay’s first season with Capital, he helped the Crusaders to a 15-5-0 overall record and 8-1-0 mark in OAC play in route to receiving an invitation to its second NCAA Tournament in as many years. In that season, Cap defeated Westminster College (Pa.) in the opening round of the 2018 NCAA Division III Men’s Soccer Tournament.

The Miami University graduate has been a part of Pride SC since 2009 as a coach and in 2016 he became the director of the club. That same year McClay joined the Wittenberg University soccer staff as an assistant and spent one season with the Tigers. His Pride U17 and U18 teams were Ohio South State Cup Finalists in 2017 and 2018, respectively. His U18 squads won back-to-back titles at the Disney Boys Soccer showcase in 2017 and 2018.

The Canal Winchester native began his college at Wilmington College where he played for two seasons before moving on to Miami University, where he played at the club level. After graduation, McClay went on to play in the American Indoor Soccer League for the Cincinnati Excite (2007-08). He then went on to play in the Xtreme Soccer League with the Chicago Storm (2008-09) before playing for the Ohio Vortex of the Professional Arena Soccer League from 2010-13. He then finished his playing career with Zanesville Athletic FC of the National Premier Soccer League in 2013.

McClay earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Miami in 2007 and holds USSF National B, C and D licenses.
