Dave Everson is returning to Capital for a second go-around, this time with an extensive and successful high school coaching resume that will serve Capital Football. He will oversee the program’s outside linebackers.
From 2015-19, Everson served as the defensive coordinator at Zanesville High School and in his first year led the Blue Devils to earn a Division III Region 11 championship. In his final year, the Blue Devils qualified for the OHSAA Division III playoffs.
He was previously the head coach of the ZHS football program from 2004-06. Everson has also served as head football coach at Bloom Carroll High School (2010-11), Morgan High School (2008-09), and Richmond Edison High School (2001-03).
In his first year with Richmond Edison, his team’s success helped him in being named the Steubenville Herald Star / Weirton Daily Times Ohio Valley Coach of the Year. In 2002, Richmond Edison won the OVAC championship and qualified for the Division III playoffs, which led to Everson being named Ohio Division III Coach of the Year and being selected to serve as head coach for the OVAC Ohio-West Virginia All-Star Game, which his team won.
In 1999, Everson joined the Capital coaching staff after finishing his graduate degree at The Ohio State University. Everson served as the defensive coordinator and assistant head coach under then-head coach Jim Collins for two seasons.
Everson completed his undergraduate work at Ohio State in 1997 with a bachelor’s degree in education. He went on to earn a Master of Arts in Sport Administration from OSU in 1999. Everson holds a master’s degree in education from Baldwin Wallace University, which he finished in 2020.
