It was a record-setting regular season for Capital University Men's Lacrosse and a banner week for the Crusaders and mush of that can be attributed to the play of junior attacker CJ Hughes. The Crusaders began their week with a 24-5 win at Wilmington College and Hughes made the most of his limited playing time by scoring five goals and assisting three more. That win was Capital's 14th in a row and clinched the top seed in the OAC Tournament.
On Saturday against Mount Union in the regular season finale, Hughes repeated Wednesday's scoreline with five more goals and three assists. This was just the second time in Hughes' career that he scored five goals in consecutive games and first since 2017. He also picked up two ground balls and caused two turnovers in a complete game. The win clinched the second regular season OAC title in program history and second undefeated OAC season in program history.
THe Crusaders set records for most OAC wins in a single season (nine) and most overall wins in a season (15). Hughes leads the team and OAC with 60 goals and is second in the conference with 88 points.
