Men's Soccer Secures Third Straight Win Against Franciscan

Columbus, Ohio – After suffering through a weather cancellation on Wednesday at Geneva, the Capital men's soccer team returned to action inside Bernlohr Stadium, taking on the Franciscan Barons under the lights.

The Comets secured their third straight win of the season against the Barons, 2-1, to improve to 3-1-0, while Franciscan sits at 0-3-0.

In the first half, the Comets secured a late goal to take a 1-0 lead. Freshman Joah Benjamin scored his first goal as a Comet when he rushed up the field with the ball and sent a wide-right-footed shot into the left corner of the net, giving Capital a 1-0 lead heading into halftime.

To even the score, Franciscan got on the board when Christian Ludwig scored, assisted by Anthony Venditti, in the 46th minute. But, in true grit form, the Comets answered right back when Colten Musick sent a ball into the top corner in the 63rd minute, with a double assist from Christian Monzalvo and Jacob Reppeto.

From there, the Comets defended until the final whistle to secure another win.
After two halves, Capital totaled 16 shots, with six on goal and two finding the back of the net.

Goalkeeper Noah Thomas stayed busy, adding seven saves to his stats.
