Fourth Quarter Struggles Doom Comets | Fall 64-54 to Otterbein

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Capital women's basketball team dropped a hard-fought Ohio Athletic Conference contest to Otterbein, 64-54, Saturday evening inside the Capital Center Performance Arena.

Capital University (15-8, 8-6 OAC) and Otterbein University (18-5, 12-2 OAC) battled through 16 lead changes and seven ties, with the visitors pulling away late in the fourth quarter to secure the road win.

Capital held a slim 19-17 advantage after the first quarter and continued to trade punches throughout the first half, heading into the locker room trailing just 34-31. The Comets stayed within striking distance in the third quarter, limiting Otterbein to nine points in the period, but the Cardinals used a strong finish at the free-throw line in the final 10 minutes to create separation.

Capital was led offensively by Samaree Perkins, who finished with 18 points, while Kyah Ewing added eight points off the bench. Kendall Spreen knocked down three three-pointers for nine points, and Izzy Rodriguez contributed six points and five rebounds. As a team, Capital shot 31.3 percent from the floor and connected on six triples.

Otterbein finished with three players in double figures and capitalized at the charity stripe, going 19-of-27 from the free-throw line. The Cardinals also held a 49–30 rebounding advantage, creating second-chance opportunities down the stretch.
