Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men’s Soccer Falls in Tight Contest at Marietta

MARIETTA, Ohio – The Capital University men's soccer team ventured to Marietta College on Wednesday evening where they fell in a tightly contested affair, 2-1.

The loss pegs the Comets back to 6-5-3 overall and 2-2-2 in the OAC. Marietta moves to 4-6-3 overall and 2-2-1 in the conference.

The game moved into the second half relatively tamely with Capital's Christian Monzalvo sending the only shot on target in the first half.

Out of the half, Mariettta scored on a goal in the 51st minute of play as Eli Swirsky struck off an assist from Jack Williams. After some pressure by the Comets, Marietta eventually doubled their lead in the 76th minute as Zach Kern scored an unassisted goal.

Despite trailing, Capital didn't give up as Colten Musick scored a goal off an assist from Harper Gillen with just 26 seconds left in the game. The goal marked Musick's third of the year, bringing him into a four-way tie for the team's top goal scorer.
Unfortunately for the Comets the goal came a little too late as the game ended with Marietta in front, 2-1.

At the end of the game, Capital out-shot Marietta 13-8 with a 4-3 edge in attempts on goal, but the Pioneers found the net twice on their shots to take the win.

Noah Thomas played the full 90 in the goal, making one save, while Dio Arve, Gillen, Musick, and Charlie Wright led the team with two shots each.
