COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Capital University men's soccer team hosted the Battling Bishops of Ohio Wesleyan in a hard-fought contest. The Comets went down 0-2 in the first, but an early second half goal from
Christian Monzalvo gave Capital the momentum. Despite this, the Comets were unable to rally back, leading to a 1-3 loss.
The loss makes Capital 1-4-1 on the year, while the win bumps OWU to 3-2-3.
Capital played hard in the first half, almost finding the back of the net after an impressive move left
Cade Wurstner one on one to take a shot. After a block from the OWU defense,
Wassim Metatla of the Comets just missed a header off of the top bar. The Comets weren't able to do much else offensively in the first half, going into the locker room down 0-2.
The second half started off strong for the Purple and White when
Christian Monzalvo was able to get ahead on a run, and loft one over the keeper in the 50th minute to put Capital on the board leading to a 1-2 score. Despite some impressive saves by
Noah Thomas, the Bishops were able to score again and regain a two goal lead that would last the rest of the contest.
Cade Wurstner and
Harper Gillen were both credited with an assist on
Christian Monzalvo's second half goal.
Noah Thomas finished the game with four saves.
