Women’s Lax Defeats Marietta to Advance to OAC Semis

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The three-seed Capital University women's lacrosse team (10-5, 5-2 OAC) hosted six-seed Marietta (5-12, 1-6 OAC) in the quarterfinals of the OAC Women's Lacrosse Tournament on Saturday. The Comets would secure their 11th 10-win season in program history, defeating the Pioneers 19-7 to advance to face two-seed John Carroll in the semifinals.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Purple and White would take their lead from three to eight in the second quarter as they outscored the Pioneers 7-2 to make it 12-4. Osborn was responsible for five of the seven with the other two going to Henry.

Capital and Marietta fought over a running clock in the second half, teetering back-and-forth over the 10-goal differential before the Comets finally closed in out in the fourth quarter. CU would outscore the Pioneers 3-1 in the third and 4-2 in the fourth en route to a 19-7 victory.  Leah Leno and Ava Vendetti joined the party in the third while Osborn added another. Finally in the fourth, Osborn had two and Vendetti and Henry each had one.
