COLUMBUS, Ohio - Capping off homecoming weekend for Capital was men's soccer, who squared off with crosstown rival Otterbein for an Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) match-up. The Cardinal offense made its presence known in this one, as the Comets would fall by a score of 3-1. With the loss, Capital now stands at 3-9-2 overall and 2-3-1 in OAC play. Meanwhile, Otterbein sees their record rise to 9-2-5 overall and 5-1-1 in conference.
The Comets would strike first, as a goal from
Derrick Harris in the 10th minute would give them an early 1-0 lead. The goal was made possible from some pretty passing by
Jackson Terry and
Wassim Metatla. Harris remains red hot, scoring goals in his last four games to bring his season total to six.
The Cardinals would be quick to respond, knotting the game up at one with a goal in the 15th minute.
After a scoreless 30 minutes of play to conclude the first half, Otterbein would take control in the second. Goals in the 55th and 83rd minute would put the game out of reach for Capital.
The story in this one would be shot attempts, as Otterbein would outshoot Capital 24-8.
Goalkeeper
Ethan Ogden gave it his all in between the posts, finishing with ten saves. Just a week after recording nine saves against Ohio Northern, Ogden has earned a new career high with his mark of ten today.
