WILMINGTON, Ohio - The Capital University men's soccer team was back in action on Wednesday, Oct. 22 when they traveled to Wilmington to take on the Quakers. The Wilmington offense made their presence known in this one, as Capital would fall by a score of 4-1. With the loss, the Comets fall to 3-8-2 overall and 2-2-1 in conference play. Meanwhile, the Quakers see their record rise to 12-3-2 overall and 5-1-0 in conference.
Wilmington got on the board early, scoring the opening goal in the 14th minute. They would double their lead in the 38th, finding the back of the net once more.
Capital would finally crack the zero in the scoring column in the 63rd minute, as
Derrick Harris was able to capitalize on a penalty kick opportunity. Harris now has five goals in his last three games, and is just one behind his teammate
Christian Monzalvo who has six on the year.
The game would be put out of reach by the Quakers later in the second half, scoring goals in the 70th and 87th minute to give themselves a three goal cushion.
The story in this one would be shot opportunities, as the Comets would be out-shot 29-7 in the contest.
Capital's seven shots would come from three players, with
Derrick Harris finishing with four,
Wassim Metatla recording two, and
Cade Wurstner adding one.
