COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Capital University women's tennis team finally opened their season on Saturday after their originally scheduled season-opener at Cedarville was canceled due to weather. The Comets would come up short as they hosted Franciscan, dropping the match 5-2.
DOUBLES
CU secured one doubles win, conceding the doubles point with the other two losses. The win for the Purple and White came from the duo of
Anna Fletcher and
Nicole Flock who defeated their opponents 7-5.
Jenny Rollins and
Annika Hansen suffered a 4-6 loss while
Kylee Fliter and
Cassandra Phrakornkham fell 2-6.
SINGLES
Cap picked up two points in the singles matches, but would ultimately give up the other four for a final score of 5-2. Fletcher and Flock were the victors, winning by scores of 4-6, 6-4, 11-9 and 6-0, 5-7, 6-2. Hansen and Phrakornkham came close but would both end up on the wrong side of 2-6, 3-6 and 4-6, 3-6 losses. Rollins was on the wrong end of a 3-6, 1-6 result, and Fliter fell 2-6, 6-2, 5-10.
