COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Capital University women's basketball team hosted Ohio Northern on Friday night for some primetime OAC weekend hoops action, ending with the Comets staying undefeated after a final score of 70-60. CU was bolstered by 11 made three-pointers, ultimately leading to the double-digit victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Capital started the game off strong, playing solid team basketball. A few buckets and an early three-pointer from
Samaree Perkins later, they found themselves with an 8-2 lead. The Polar Bears would find their stride through, fighting hard to close the gap. The Comets scored some more of their own and were able to go into the second quarter up 14-11. Quarter number two started in favor of the Purple and White, but ONU fought their way back in with some good execution and offensive boards. Jenna Horsely came up big for the Comets in the second quarter, hitting two deep three-pointers when the Comets needed it most.
Tahirah Ellis ended the half with two free throws, making the first and missing the second.
Samaree Perkins was able to pull in the board and kick it back out to Tahirah, who hit a three as time expired to give Capital a 35-23 lead going into halftime.
ONU brought the energy to start the third quarter, cutting the Comet lead to as little as eight. Capital was struggling to score, and needing a spark, they got one when
Kya Jordan dropped her defender and hit a pull-up jumper. The Comets took off after that, and some big time threes from Maddie Weiland and
Kendall Spreen propelled Capital to a 56-40 lead. The flow of the game stayed the same into the fourth quarter. Ohio Northern played hard and were able to score some hard-fought baskets and close the gap to seven with 4:26 left in the fourth quarter. Capital took care of business on both ends of the floor for the remainder of the game, with some clutch free throws by
