MAYFIELD, Ohio – The Capital University men's tennis team traveled to Mayfield, Ohio to take on John Carroll University on Saturday evening. There, the Comets were dropped 9-0 by the Blue Streaks.
The result drops Capital back to 7-4 overall and 1-2 in the OAC. John Carroll improves to 2-10 overall and 2-0 in the conference.
DOUBLES
The number one team of
Spencer Surles and
Brady Wink took JCU's Grant Sarnowski and Anthony Markello deep, but ultimately fell 8-4.
In the second and third spots, JCU's pairings defeated
Jackson Havel/
Colin Welch and
Alex Rowley/
Thomas Secrist by 8-0 scores.
SINGLES
The Comets were upended in each match, with
Jackson Havel playing the strongest match at the #5 singles spot. Havel took Nathan Palinkas far, but ultimately was tripped up 6-3, 6-2.
Elsewhere in order, the Comets fell. Secrist fell 6-0, 6-1 at #1, Surles lost 6-1, 6-2 at #2, Welch fell 6-0, 6-0 at #3,
Jesse Stevens lost 6-0, 6-1 at #4, and Wink fell 6-1, 6-1 at #6.

Capital's tough weekend continues tomorrow night as the Comets will make the short drive to Granville, Ohio to do battle with the No. 14 nationally ranked Denison Big Red.
